Bangladeshi fished out of cold and wet hideout

JOHOR BARU: A 30-year-old Bangladeshi illegal worker hid inside a restaurant’s water tank for three hours in an attempt to evade the authorities.
He was among 30 illegal foreign workers, including 12 Filipino women who were working as guest relations officers (GROs), detained in raids on entertainment outlets and restaurants on Friday night.
Johor Immigration Department enforcement chief Masri Adul said his personnel raided an entertainment outlet in Taman Nusa Bestari 2 at 9.30pm on Friday and detained the 12 women aged between 22 and 30 along with a man, in his 30s, who was their so-called manager.
“We will step up operations against all illegal foreign workers. They will be sent to our depot in Pekan Nenas before being deported to their home countries,” he said. - The Star
