Police Detain Gang Leader And Members Of Agus Gang

SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Police detained eight members of the Agus Gang, including the leader and three women, during a pre-dawn raid at Taman Sri Muda on Aug 4.

Shah Alam deputy police chief Supt M. Chandrasehkaran said on Tuesday, the suspects, all Indonesians, aged between 19 to 30, were high on the police wanted list for assault and robbery, since January.

One of the woman who was arrested was the wife of the gang leader known as Agus, he said.

He added the modus operandi of the gang was to use gas cylinders to break into the houses of their would be victims.

"Police raided a house on the 4th floor of the Valencia flats in Section 25 of Taman Sri Muda at about 1am and detained all eight of them," he said.

Chandrasehkaran said with the arrest of the eight, police are confident of solving at least 16 high profile robbery cases in Bukit Jelutong and Subang Jaya, since January.

He added that during the raid, police found parang, sickle, cutter, masks, a knife and other sharp objects believed to have been used during robberies but they did not have any valid documents.

Chandrasehkaran said police also seized six hand phones, nine wallets, lap top computer bag, three ATM cards, a watch, a rubber stamp, two identity cards, 11 gold items like chain, hand chain, earrings and RM1,446 cash in Indonesian and Malaysian currencies.

However, we are still looking for other members of the gang, he said.
