KANGAR: A 9-year-old boy was among five other Myanmars detained by the Chuping Anti-Smuggling Unit (UPP) on Wednesday night.
Chuping UPP Commander Md Fawzie Aris said his team of six officers had followed a white Proton Iswara at Jalan Kubang Tiga-Bukit Keteri and ordered the driver to stop.
The driver abandoned the vehicle and his passengers and fled on foot.
The 9pm incident saw the rest of the passengers aged between 9 and 35 years panicking and they too tried to run, but they were detained by the UPP officers.
None of them had valid travel documents.
Fawzie said the owner of the car would be called in to assist investigations. - NST
